Random Project: Book Jacket Designer

In a strange series of events, (which is how all my best stories begin,) I was contacted this week by a major New York publishing house. They stumbled across the photos I posted of my scooter on the website Flickr, and thought my bike would look perfect as the cover of their latest book. Since then I’ve secured permission to use the photo from the photographer, touched up the high res original photo, and then, at the request the the scooter really stand out – changed the color from that pale green to a deep ruby red.

As the photographer is charging more than the publisher has in their budget for this, this may all fall apart. And either way, I’ll undoubtedly get left out in the cold as far as compensation for the time I spent in Photoshop. But I’ve been promised a personal “thanks” in the forward, so hopefully something can be arranged so that my ‘52 Vespa will grace the cover of a book on the history of the brand.
