Know When To Fold ‘Em
The replacement for my stolen bike showed up yesterday. The full-size, matte black mountain bike is, so far, exactly what I’d hoped it’d be. And that’s saying a lot, considering I bought it off the internet without ever having laid eyes on one. I don’t like to make a habit of that with items like this. Some things aren’t easy to judge from photos – like bikes, cars, women from Eastern Block countries…
But it’s rock solid, lightweight (27-ish lbs.) has Grip Shift on the handlebars, a nice seat, and the tires look like they’ll laugh at potholes. And, at about $350, I’m not afraid to really ride this thing hard. If this were some fancy bike with gold pedals and handpainted frame, I’d hang it on the wall and call it art for fear of scratching it.
In order to be eligible for the lifetime warranty, it must be assembled by a “real” bike shop. So, I’ll be back in the saddle again on Monday.
