Too Cold for Toes
The temperature was holding at about 4 degrees today – yeah, four. Needless to say, little Nell is spending lots of time in the great indoors. Thankfully her ultra-warm new coat showed up tonight from Voyagers K9 Apparel, and it looks to be a wonderful, custom jacket. Easily as nice as anything I own, that’s for sure.
Four matching booties are also on their way, so our walks will soon be much longer.
It’s not like we mind being cooped up in the meantime, though. When we’re not sipping coffee on the sofa with her head in our lap, we’re working on Nell’s indoor tricks. She can now get in her Crate, Stay in said crate, go Free! from the crate, and Settle if she’s tearing through the house at 7:30 a.m. She also glides into the kitchen at the mere mention of going Outside to Hurry Up. Five days, and we’re already speaking a new language.
Nell is also responding to her new name, after answering to her race name – Time Traveler – for the last four years. Nell seems to fit her perfectly. And besides – with the amount of time she spends lounging on the couch, the only “traveling” she’s doing these days is in her dreams…

She’s the most stylish dog I’ve ever seen. I shouldn’t be surprised given who her mother is. And her father, of course, is thinking of practicality. Can’t wait to meet her next week!
You wouldn’t believe how many incredible looking dogs there were at this kennel – Nell was less visually impressive than most of the others!
And she’s almost “hurrying up” with excitement to meet you, too!
so glad she’s doing well! she’s definitely a smart one…hope there haven’t been any more peeing incidents in the house. with the cold weather i’ve heard from a bunch of people that their dogs suddenly become un-housebroken.
i’m going to our kennel tomorrow–will be strange not to see her up there. glad she’s finally where she’s meant to be…we couldn’t have asked for a better home for her.
Thanks for stopping by, Kristen!
With all you and Nancy do for GO, we’re so grateful you’re confident about Nell’s new life. We were just saying this morning that it feels like she’s always been here.
As for not seeing her at the kennel anymore – just remember you’ll always have full visitation rights anytime you like!
What a sweetie! Should be warmer this weekend.
What my cats wouldn’t give for three sets of steps…they might stop looking like basketballs with feet…
Nell the Time Traveling Greyhound. Children’s book there I think…..
Our gorgeous grand-dog looks more and more comfortable every time we see a new photo! How could she be anything else when she is in the best home any dog could wish for. She is one fortunate little girl. And that coat is so beautiful and warm. Gotta protect those lovely ears. Doing tricks, huh? Could you teach her to call Gramma and Granpa in California on the little cell phone? If she called, I would tell her that one of my dog loving friends, and knitting students, tells me the ONLY treat her great danes will react to is a bite of hot dog. Then we would tell Nell to ask mom and dad to take a hot dog on the stairs and try that as a reward. Oh well, I just have to be a little bit of a bossy gramma, now don’t I?
Can’t wait to see you two. Kiss the rubber nose for us.
wtf – you traded the kick ass name “Time Traveler” for “Nell”. I understand wanting to separate from trauma or whatever, but ffs man… Nell? You could’ve gone with “Seven of Nine” or “Princess Leia” or even “Lolita”.
1 million nerd points deducted from you!
